Archdiocesan policy requires that couples make arrangements at least 6 months before the wedding date; often more than six months is advisable since dates and times are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.  The couple should also make early contact with our Music Ministry Director, Dan Weckerly at 610-454-0498.

The certificate required and the questionnaires to be completed will be explained by the priest at the initial interview.  It is assumed that one of the parties belongs to St. Eleanor Parish and that both are free to marry.  If one party, even a non-Catholic, has been previously married and has not been widowed, a Catholic Church annulment is required to show freedom to marry again.  The couple must participate in the Marriage Preparation (Pre-Cana) Program approved by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  St. Eleanor Parish conducts its own Pre-Cana Program in the fall and spring.  To register, please contact George & Eileen Finnin at 610-489-4940.  Since marriage is a Sacrament of Christ, the marriage celebration is to be in keeping with the liturgical norms of the church; consideration is also given to personal desires and needs of the parish.

You may have a nuptial ceremony with or without a Mass.  A Nuptial Mass is highly recommended when both parties are Catholic.  However, when the spouses are of different Christian faiths, a ceremony outside of the Eucharist Service may be more appropriate.  At a Nuptial Mass, the lay readers are to be Catholic and at the Mass, those who are of the Catholic faith may receive Holy Communion.  Weddings may be scheduled on Friday evenings or on Saturday at 12:30 or 2:30 pm.
