Adoration of the Blessed SacramentAdoration of the Belessed Sacrament

“God is the friend of silence. We need to find God and He cannot be found in noise and restlessness. See how nature, the trees, the flowers, the grasses grow in perfect silence ... see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence. The more we receive in silent prayer, the more we can give in our active life."
 Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Outside the Chapel is a box for petitions.  If you would like to place a request for prayers, just write it on a slip of paper and place it in the box.  Although the petitions are never read, every Adorer who enters the Chapel will pray for all the intentions in the box.  Prayer is a powerful force in our parish.  We have already received many blessings.  If you are struggling with something, come to the Chapel for a few minutes with Jesus and leave your petition for all of us to pray with you

The Chapel is open 24 hours a day, with the exception of Sunday during Masses and Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm.  To date every hour has been covered either by a scheduled Adorer or a Substitute.  Thank you to all of our Scheduled Adorers and Substitutes who make this Blessing possible.

We encourage everyone to come to the Chapel for whatever time you have.  PREP and CYO parents can drop their children off for class or practice and spend a few minutes with Jesus while waiting for them.  The peace and quiet will calm you, and a visit with Our Lord will renew your spirit.

We are always seeking new Scheduled Adorers.  Please consider signing up for any time that is convenient for you. Our goal is at least 2 Adorers per hour.  We still have 3 slots with no Adorers scheduled.   Please look at the list below and see if you can be the one to fill our needs. Sign up forms are outside the Chapel. You can email perpetualadoration@steleanor.com  or call Marge McManus @ 610-948-7699 for more information

Remember, Jesus will never be outdone in His generosity.

Our goal is to have a t least 2 Adorers for every hour.  The boxes with 2  "Adorers needed" are currently hours without any scheduled adorers. The boxes with 1 "Adorer needed" have one scheduled adorer and we are looking for a second.  Please consider joining the Perpetual Adoration Team at St. Eleanor. If you cannot fill one of our blanks, that is ok.  Pick an hour that is convenient for you.

You do not have to volunteer for an open hour. We are glad to have you sign up for any hour that your schedule permits.

On the table outside the chapel there is a “Book of Blessings”.  Listed on the pages are blessings or favors granted, that the writer attributes to their prayer in the chapel. It is a wonderful source of inspiration for all of the Adorers.  Below is a sampling of those blessings.  Please add any blessings you have received to the book as you enter the chapel.

General  Guidelines

What is Perpetual adoration?

. Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration is the adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist. In the many Churches that have this adoration, the Eucharist is displayed in a special holder called a monstrance, and people come to pray and worship Jesus continually throughout the day and often the night.  The tradition of Perpetual Adoration goes back to the beginnings of the Church and has been credited with innumerable blessings bestowed on individuals, parishes and communities.

Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration is our response to Jesus’ love for us. We become a part of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration when we willingly consent to spend a quiet holy hour of prayer in His Eucharistic Presence once a week on the same day at the same time every week so that all of us united together adore Our Lord. By saying “Yes” to Jesus, you join a long line of people that stretches through the centuries from a stable in Bethlehem in the company of angels, shepherds and Magi through all of history to this day.  This Mystical union has sustained the very heart of the Church

How is it organized?

The backbone of Perpetual Adoration is the Hourly adorer, volunteers commit to spend 1 hour a week with Jesus in the chapel.  Our 24 Hourly Coordinators oversee a specific hour each week. They communicate any information to the Hourly Adorers, and help to find substitutes when needed.  The four Division Leaders are there to help the Hourly Coordinators. The Head Coordinator oversees the entire operation and reports to the Pastor.

.

What if I can't make it one week?

It is expected that some people will need substitutes on occasion.  We have volunteers who will take your spot.  We find that adorers often get family members or friends to take their spot or they trade times or days with another Adorer.  Your hourly coordinator will help you.

What are the general guidelines for those who want to visit the chapel?

Please dress in a way that reflects your respect for Our Lord in the Eucharist.  Short shorts or halter tops  are not appropriate.  Thank you for understanding.

Most people want to adore Our Lord in their own way, and often they will want to do so quietly.  For this reason, please do not visit with others in the Adoration Chapel. Go out to the vestibule to converse quietly, if necessary.  Please remember never leave the Blessed Sacrament unattended.

No spontaneous unscheduled events or sermonizing are allowed.  Adoration is a peaceful, private time for each adorer.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children.  As Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me”.  But, please supervise your children.  Bring a biblical children’s books or you might want to teach them the Rosary if you are alone in the chapel.  Please limit your visit to Jesus with your child to the amount of time that the little one can remain quiet and happy.

Please refrain from eating or drinking in the Chapel

You are encouraged to use the reading material located in the narthex,  but please return it as you leave so others may use it.

Nothing is to be placed on the Altar of Repose.

Please do not use radios, CD or tape players in the chapel.  (If you have ear phones please use them at a low volume so other cannot hear)  Please turn your cell phones off or to silent mode.  Please do not use your cell phone in the chapel.
