It is our pleasure to welcome you to Saint Eleanor Parish. Registration takes place in the rectory. Before coming in to register, it is a good idea to call the rectory to confirm that you are living within the boundaries of St. Eleanor Parish. This will save you a trip if you need to be registering at another parish.
You can register by stopping in at the rectory, preferably during the following hours when our full-time staff can help you: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 8 AM until 8 PM, Wednesday 8 AM until 5:30 PM, Friday 8 AM until 4:30 PM. There is a receptionist available on Sundays from 9 AM until 1 PM but you will get more complete information from the full-time staff.
The registration process is just a matter of answering a few simple questions. We will give you some pertinent information about the parish and you will have a brief meeting with Susan Gordon, our Stewardship coordinator, who will tell you about some of the great organizations here and how to get involved.
Baptisms at St. Eleanor are held on Sundays after the Noon Mass. We baptize every Sunday with the exception of Easter and Christmas (if it falls on Sunday). The priests and deacon baptize on a rotation basis.
The first step towards Baptism is registering in the parish. If you are registered you may call the rectory to sign your child up for Baptism on the date of your choice. There is no limit to the number of children we baptize at one time. However, we do need to know the date as soon as you have chosen it and you must sign up at least two weeks in advance of your chosen date.
In order to have a Mass said for a particular intention, you must come into the rectory. Masses can be said for a deceased person or as a special intention for the living. Masses can also be “announced” or “unannounced.”
An announced Mass is a Mass celebrated on a particular day at a particular time. The announced Mass is a good option if the family of a deceased lives in the parish, if the person requesting the Mass would like to be able to attend the Mass, or if the living person for whom a Mass is offered may like to attend the Mass. (It is called “announced” because the intention is made public in the parish bulletin and usually mentioned by the priest celebrant.) An unannounced Mass is said privately by one of the priests and consequently the unannounced Masses will be said sooner than you would be able to book an announced Mass. If there is no one in particular in the parish who would have a special interest in attending the Mass for the person for whom it is offered, then an unannounced Mass could be considered.
For announced Masses, we open our Mass intention book one year ahead of the month we are currently in. In other words, on May 1 of a given year, we can book Masses for any date up through May of the next year if they are available. Having said that, please be aware that our Mass book fills up very quickly. If you have your heart set on a particular date in May of next year, you need to get into the rectory to set it up right in the beginning of May in the current year.
Mass intentions can be taken Monday through Thursday from 8 AM until 8 PM, Friday from 8 AM until 5 PM and Sunday from 9 AM until 1 PM. The donation for Masses is $10 for an announced Mass and $5 for an unannounced Mass. Cash or check is acceptable but we do ask you to bring the exact amount.
