Bread of Life

Dear Friends, This weekend marks the last Sunday of our five-week journey through Chapter 6 of Saint John’s Gospel ~ Jesus’ the Bread of Life discourse. This weekend’s verses pick up with the shock and murmuring of Jesus’ listeners to the fact that Jesus says, “…unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.” Jesus does not back down from His statements, nor does He change or soften what He said. As a result, many of His followers left Him and returned to their daily lives, causing Jesus to ask the Twelve, if they also wanted to leave. Here we have Saint Peter taking the lead and affirming the Faith: “Master, to whom shall we go? Yo

The Gift

Dear Friends, About this time last year, Alex Price came to Saint Eleanor Parish, fresh out of Franciscan University, Steubenville, and became one of two Youth Ministers for our parish family. As we were beginning a new and concerted effort to engage our young people in discipleship, Alex brought his many gifts, talents, intellect, firm Faith, unwavering love for Jesus and his energetic personality not only to our youth but to all of us on the parish staff and to everyone he met. His courageous commitment to the Lord Jesus and to sharing the Lord’s love with others has been inspiring and a blessing. Alex is leaving us to accept a teaching position in Theology at Devon Prep. This is wonder

August is Here

Well August is flying by. The hot, humid weather has reminded me that it is indeed August. Most college students will be returning to campus by next week and it won’t be long before the grade and high schools will open their doors for a new school year. Holy Cross Regional opens after Labor Day. Just a reminder again of our upcoming Forty Hours Devotions, September 9 – 11 with Father Chris Moriconi as our homilist! The dates of these devotions coincide with our Parish Feast Day of September 14, the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. We will celebrate our feast day on Sunday, September 9 to open these devotions. These three days are special blessings for our parish family as we worship Jesus

Summer news

Dear Friends, As the end of summer draws near, we offer best wishes to Anthony Albanese, our Seminarian, as this is his last weekend with us for the summer. He will return this Fall on Thursdays for the academic year. We are very grateful for his presence with us, and his work among us. His kind and gentle disposition and willingness to be involved with our parish family is a blessing indeed. We look forward to his return, his continuing presence and assistance in the coming year. Pray for him and all our Seminarians as they continue their formation and study for the priesthood. Pray also for vocations to the priesthood. The need for young men of courage, conviction, integrity, with zea
