Change and Joy
Our priests, deacons and staff offer prayers and greetings to all Mothers today! Our gratitude and love for our Mothers for all of their sacrifices is something to be expressed every day of the year. However, it is a wonderful opportunity to dedicate one Sunday in May for this expressed purpose. God bless you all!
In our first reading, we hear about the election of Matthias to take the place of Judas Iscariot. The criteria was that he had to be someone who was with Jesus throughout His public ministry and up to His Ascension into heaven. The purpose for electing was so that he would be a witness to the resurrection.
This weekend, at the Seminary, seven men were ordained as transitional Deacons for our Archdiocese. One of them was our own Alessandro Giardini. What a special day, not only for these seven men and their families, but for our local church as well. May God bless them and their ministries with much zeal, passion and caring service for God’s holy people. Reverend Mr. Alessandro Giardini has been assigned to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Buckingham, Bucks County for his diaconate assignment. He will return here to serve as Deacon and to preach on Memorial Day weekend. We look forward to welcoming him back.
As you know, May is also the month of priestly ordinations. This year six men will be ordained priests for the Archdiocese on May 19. Please accompany them with your prayers as they begin their priestly service in the Archdiocese. It is a most joyful moment for them and for all of us as the local church.
Monsignor Murray who has been such a constant presence and help to our parish family since he retired to live here in June 2016 is celebrating a very special milestone anniversary this year. May 18 he will be fifty years a priest ~ his golden anniversary!! We congratulate him most sincerely and profoundly thank him for his joyful, dedicated and untiring service as a priest of Jesus. We, priests, deacons, all our people, are truly blessed by his kindness, zeal and priestly service here with us. Ad multos annos!
We also will have again the service of a seminarian this summer. Mr. Anthony Albanese will arrive on June 2. Anthony has finished two years of Seminary training (Spiritual Year and Pre-Theology I). He is very enthusiastic about coming to Saint Eleanor. I know that you will warmly welcome him as you meet him over the summer months.
And of course, we await news about the assignment of a priest to our parish as Father Moriconi has received a new assignment. If you missed the verbal announcement at Church a few weeks ago, Father Moriconi is becoming secretary to the Archbishop, effective June 18. We will have a farewell celebration for Father Moriconi who will celebrate the 12 Noon Mass on Sunday, June 17. Immediately after Mass in the narthex, there will be light refreshments and the opportunity to greet Father. We will all miss Father Moriconi and his faithful and untiring priestly ministry. Keep him also in your good prayers.
God bless you, God love you,
