Happy Epiphany!

Dear Friends,

Happy Epiphany! Today’s feast is also known as Little Christmas. We recall the visit of the three Magi to the Christ Child and thereby the manifestation of Jesus Christ to the gentile world. It is twelve days since Christmas but the Christmas season continues until the feast of the Baptism of the Lord, which is next Sunday. Don’t let the worldly rush towards Valentine’s Day short circuit your attention to the awesome marvel of Christ’s birth and the revelation of our salvation.

Although this column is being written before Christmas due to printing deadlines and such things, we priests have already been the recipients of a tremendous outpouring of cards, gifts, cookies and Christmas treats. I know these will continue to arrive as Christmas draws nearer. Please know how truly grateful we are for your loving kindnesses, concern, and thoughtfulness. Our heartfelt thanks is much deeper than the simple, little words of thank you. But truly, thank you most kindly!

Our next series of Discovering Christ, the first part of the ChristLife series will begin very shortly. The overwhelming response to this series from our parish family is most inspiring. I truly hope that everyone will eventually participate in it. It will bring you closer to our Lord and strengthen your relationship with Him no matter where you are on your personal Faith journey.

As the new year of 2019 unfolds, may our eyes be focused on Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior who truly “…is the same yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). May you and your loved ones know every blessing of God today and every day!

God bless you, God love you,

Monsignor McCulken
