This weekend our Knights of Columbus, Perkiomen Valley Council #3633, will speak before the Masses and be available in the Narthex with materials and information about their remarkable organization for Catholic men and the great work they do. I hope that many of our men will take the time to learn more about them and consider joining their ranks. They serve both our parish and Saint Mary Parish, Schwenksville.
This Tuesday evening, January 29 at 7 pm (Chapel), the Knights will sponsor a prayer service in honor of Our Lady Help of Persecuted Christians. A special icon of our Lady will visit Saint Eleanor for this prayer service which will include readings, the rosary, special prayers and Benediction. We are happy that our Junior Legion of Mary members will assist in leading the praying of the rosary. Please be sure to join us in prayers on behalf of our persecuted brothers and sisters.
This Thursday, our two seminarians, Anthony and Andrew, will return to engage in their Seminary Apostolate experience here at Saint Eleanor. We are happy to welcome them back. They will continue to work in varied pastoral programs as well as teach and visit our students at school. Continue to pray for them and for vocations to the priesthood.
A short reminder that we will celebrate Safe Haven Sunday, the weekend of March 2-3 in partnership with the Archdiocese and Covenant Eyes, a pioneer of Internet Accountability software, helping members to maintain their online integrity. They have developed several resources to support parents and adults in protecting individuals, marriages and families from the harm of pornography, helping to keep all homes as safe havens. They provide valuable assistance which will be available free that weekend for all in our parish family.
Catholic Schools Week begins this Sunday, January 27. Holy Cross Regional Catholic School will host an Open House after the 9 am Sunday Mass (10 am – 12 Noon). All are welcome to come and visit school, especially those who are considering opportunities for your children’s education. Even if your children are grown, stop over and tour the building and meet our exceptional faculty and staff. There will be special events all week long.
And speaking of school, this past Tuesday Bob Kelly from Fox 29, who hosts Kelly’s Classroom, visited the school. It was a rousing time with a lot of energy and good activity. Hope you caught his reporting on television. Our students certainly presented themselves and our school very well.
…And they say that the winter months are the doldrums. We certainly are blessed in so many ways with so many wonderful opportunities. May God bless all our efforts to be passionate disciples of the Lord Jesus!
God bless you, God love you,
